Fill the difference/Feel the difference: New markets, new products – SIG opts for differentiation January 2006. “Fill the difference/Feel the difference“ – this is the slogan SIG, one of the world’s leading suppliers of beverage cartons and systems for premium drinks and liquid food products, has chosen for Anuga FoodTec 2006. The international trade fair for food and drink technology will be held in Cologne from 4th to 7th April 2006. SIG’s stand will be located in Hall 6. Here the company plans to introduce visitors to a world of sensory perception where they can literally experience the slogan “Fill the difference/Feel the difference“ for themselves. In other words, customers will be able to actually see and feel the decisive differences SIG offers them with its versatile range of packaging solutions. SIG’s presentation at the trade fair will focus on the great variety of top quality aseptic carton package series, formats and volumes that can be produced with the highly developed machine systems from SIG Combibloc. Following the introduction of practical new spouts, SIG Combibloc’s packaging solutions can be combined flexibly for optimum market positioning. Added to this, the fact that the carton offers so many possibilities for differentiation makes it an ideal packaging solution for practically every product segment. Fit on a large and small scale These include classics such as milk and milk products as well as the entire range of non-carbonated soft drinks (NCSD). Thanks to SIG Combibloc, the suppliers of premium drinks can now set themselves apart from the competition all over the world with top quality packaging. For instance, the combifit package series is establishing itself very successfully on the international market due to the fact that it underlines the premium image of a product in both form and function. This slim pack with the slanted top is extremely elegant and eye-catching; it is easy to lift and hold, and it offers an optimum pouring angle. With the presentation of combifitSmall and combifitMini at ANUGA FoodTec 2006, SIG Combibloc will be completing the successful combifit package series in the small format range. This means that volumes of between 150 and 1,500 ml will be available in combifit in future, thus giving customers the chance to position entire product series uniformly in the attractive combifit at the point of sale. Visitors to ANUGA FoodTec will be also be introduced to the small format combifitSmall (200 to 350 ml) combined with the new screw cap combiSmart. This practical screw cap not only meets the growing worldwide trend for on-the-go consumption. It also fulfils consumers’ demands for packaging that will allow products such as condensed milk or cream to be poured out easily through a pourer and then reclosed. Easy to open – easy to close again combiSwift is another new spout from SIG Combibloc. This screw cap features an opening mechanism based on a new technology. The three-part spout is applied to an “over-coated” hole – a process that allows the spout to be opened easily without a lot of strength. To this end, precisely dimensioned holes are punched into the cardboard in the SIG Combibloc packaging plants before the raw board is coated with aluminium and polyethylene. After the carton pack has been filled in the customer’s plant, combiSwift is applied to the over-coated hole. This handy, flat spout is an ideal spout for liquid milk products, fruit juices and all other non-carbonated drinks. Food on the advance Another strategically interesting field for SIG is the food business where it will be concentrating on two segments in particular in future. The aseptic carton pack from SIG Combibloc has already proved to be extremely suitable for pasty and chunky food such as tomato products, soups, sauces or desserts. Food containing chunks of up to 15 millimetres in size can be packed aseptically in aseptic carton packs with SIG Combibloc’s flexible filling machine system. And individual chunks can even be up to 40 millimetres long. SIG is advancing into a new business sector in the food segment with combisafe which it will be presenting for the first time at ANUGA FoodTec 2006. This is a volume-flexible, heat-resistant carton package series which can be filled with practically any chunky food product and subsequently sterilised in an autoclave. Chunky vegetable products can be filled into combisafe just as easily as chunky fruit, ready-cooked meals or, for instance, wet pet food. Decisive advantages for the customers: combisafe is based on the tried-and-tested sleeve system and volume-flexible filling machine technology from SIG Combibloc, with modifications of both for the use of combisafe. In order to guarantee the safe sealing of chunky products, the carton sleeves are sealed ultrasonically after the filling process. Thanks to the possible combination of proven pumping and pouring technologies, the use of combisafe offers customers an extremely flexible package series and the right filling concept for each product.
