SIG Combibloc presents innovation in medium sized formats: 12,000 packages per hour and change of volume in unmatched short time January 2007. Operational excellence for customers is the basic principle which system provider SIG Combibloc successfully translates into high speed filling machines with unique flexibility. An output of 12,000 packages per hour can now be achieved with the new filling machines CFA 312 and CFA 512 for the medium sized formats – and a unique volume flexibility with the possibility to change volumes in unmatched short time. As the world’s first manufacturer, SIG Combibloc brought a filling machine for aseptic carton packaging with an output of 10,000 per hour to market in 1997. With the introduction of servo motors, the output of the filling machines has increased by 20 percent up to 12,000 packages per hour on the filling machines for the popular family sized packages combiblocSlimline and combiblocStandard. “With our new filling machines it is possible to provide our customers with high production line efficiencies for mass production and unique flexibility. The CFA 512 fills volumes of 500, 750, 1,000 and 1,100 ml with a steady output of 12,000 packages per hour. The CFA 312 fills volumes of 500, 750 and 1,000ml. This high output capacity combined with the proven volume flexibility that allows for change of volume in unmatched short time makes the system worldwide unique”, so states Luc Viardot, SIG Combibloc’s Product Manager combibloc/combifit. The first CFA 312 and CFA 512 filling machines have already been proven to be a success in practice. The renowned food specialist Gerber Juice Company Ltd (United Kingdom) already has the new filling machines from SIG Combibloc in service. “Setting up a purpose-built operation on a green field site, you want to see a return on your investment as soon as possible”, mentions Mick Pedder, Factory Operations Manager at Gerber Juice Company. “This calls for a low cost operation driven by best in class equipment in terms of speed, output, and efficiencies. This allied with a multi-skilled and highly motivated workforce guarantees our success. In an ongoing partnership with SIG Combibloc we’ll make sure that we can meet market and customer demands today and in the future”. Gerber Juice Company is Great Britain’s number one in the juice segment. With the take over of Emig in 2001, Gerber has expanded on European level and is now also one of the largest suppliers of juice drinks in Europe.
