On course for global success: drinksplus − drinks with perceptible added value The drinksplus concept from SIG Combibloc is set for global success. With drinksplus, SIG Combibloc developed a concept that makes it possible to fill beverages containing pieces of real fruit, vegetable or cereal grains in aseptic carton packs. After the successful launch of drinksplus products in China, now also beverage manufacturers in Thailand, Russia, Iran and Saudi Arabia are offering tasty NCSD and Liquid Dairy products with a special drinking experience. The beverages, containing up to ten per cent natural particulates, are filled using standard filling machines from SIG Combibloc for Liquid Dairy and NCSD. The individual particulates in drinksplus products can be up to six millimetres in length and width. The standard filling machines are fitted to work with drinksplus using an easy-to-install ‘drinksplus kit’. Drinking straws for drinksplus are up to 7.5 millimeters in diameter and make drinking the innovative products with natural bits a very special experience. The drinksplus concept makes it possible for manufacturers in the beverage industry to break into a completely new product segment for products aseptically packaged in beverage cartons, enabling them to supplement an already successful product range or a brand portfolio with added-value products. Combining top-quality beverages with added extras underscores the premium nature of the products, and fits perfectly with one of the key current trends in the beverage market: on the one hand, consumers want healthy food, and on the other hand they are looking for interesting and unusual new taste experiences. Consumer studies conducted in China, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Brazil, Thailand, Egypt and Russia have shown that consumers attach significantly more value to products with actual pieces of fruit, vegetables or cereals. In addition, drinking through a straw allows the consumer to fully experience the unique texture and flavour intensity of products containing bits of fruits – adding fun to drinking by creating a completely new drinking experience. |
