Career advancement of managers and specialists

In certain SIG business units, qualified management executives and specialists in key functions are a limited resource. The risk that SIG might lose managers and specialists occupying key functions through unexpected departures – either through external recruitment or voluntary resignations – is correspondingly high. Frequently, vacant positions have to be filled with external candidates. Consequently, the risk of inappropriate selections is higher than with comparably qualified internal candidates.

The future and growth markets of SIG are in the Far East and South America. Building up those markets can only succeed if SIG has a sufficient reserve of management executives and specialists who are able and willing to be sent abroad on expatriate assignments.

International assignments are prepared meticulously (intercultural management). The aim is that, within five years at the utmost, the local management should be capable of independently assuming the executive responsibilities.
