'Inside Innovation’: Aline Selke’s journey at SIG

Aline leads a team that navigates the complexities of raw materials—polymers, aluminum, liquid packaging board—and their combinations to create reliable aseptic packaging materials. Her expertise and leadership play a critical role in ensuring our packaging meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainability. Let’s hear it from her.
What does innovation mean to Aline?
"Innovation, to me, is finding solutions to the challenges of our time, such as sustainability. It requires resilience—not giving up after setbacks and staying focused on the goal day by day. That perseverance is key to success."
A breakthrough to be proud of
Aline is particularly proud of her work on the SIG Terra Alu Free Full Barrier project, which focuses on developing aseptic packaging with an innovative polymer-based barrier as a replacement for aluminum. This material provides the same protective barrier properties to safe the nutritional value of liquid food and maintain its shelf life while significantly reducing carbon footprint and simplifying recyclability.
Celebrating success and overcoming challenges
For Aline, the best moments in innovation come when a new product is finally launched—a product she truly believed in, achieved through hard teamwork and collaboration despite natural resistance and setbacks. "At SIG, the realization of innovative products is supported and celebrated. I’m proud to be part of a company that values these efforts and invests in making them a reality."
