We at SIG: Meet Adham from Riyadh

The 33-year-old describes himself as an “energetic-dynamic explorer with a passion for life”. Read on to find out what drives him.

Adham, tell us about your role. What is it like?

Adham: As SIG Excellence System (SES) and digitalization expert in our Riyadh plant, I get to wear multiple hats. Imagine having a camera with a zoom lens – I can take a step back to envision the big picture or dive into the minutest details. My role connects me with every department in the organization, allowing me to tackle diverse challenges and drive impact across various business areas.

How has your SIG journey been so far?

Adham: I joined SIG in September 2023, and what a ride it’s been! Professionally, it was a constant learning experience, introducing new lean and digital solutions to the plant, and learning from the diverse team we have in Riyadh. Personally, I’ve experienced significant milestones – relocating from Egypt to Saudi Arabia, coping with the loss of my father, and most recently tying the knot. Through it all, SIG’s warm culture and supportive team have made my transition seamless. I firmly believe that feeling included is key to success in any company, and I’m grateful for the camaraderie and support of the Riyadh team and the encouragement of the SES community.

Do you have a special SIG moment you would like to share?

Adham: Some highlights of my journey so far include

·        Visiting the Wittenberg Plant and being inspired by its operations

·        Collaborating with the team to prepare for our Maturity Assessment

·        Leading the Riyadh plant to an all-time record in our SES Maturity Assessment

·        Witnessing the Riyadh Plant receive the prestigious Plant of the Year award

·        Participating in the Annual Competency Week and learning from the best

·        Being entrusted with a strategic digitalization project – a testament to SIG’s faith in my abilities

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

Adham: When I’m not working, you can find me indulging in various sports – I love all kinds of sports. I used to be a professional basketball player and athlete. I am currently an Ultimate Frisbee player and enjoy the thrill and team spirit of the game.

In addition to sports, I spend quality time with my loved ones and cherish those precious moments, even if it sometimes requires some planning due to time differences – my sister lives in Japan, for example.

I often curl up with a good book and lose myself in different worlds and stories or binge-watch my favorite shows and movies.

One of my favorite ways to unwind is by planning my next travel adventure. Traveling is my ultimate stress reliever, and I have a growing list of destinations to explore. Latin and South America are high on my list, with its rich cultures and stunning landscapes. I also dream of visiting Disneyland in Tokyo and Shanghai. My wife and I want to visit all the parks - the last one we visited was Paris.

Is there anything else you would like to share?

Adham: When I joined SIG, one of the things I assessed was the environment. I really appreciate and respect that the SIG environment creates a lot of opportunities for you to shine and leave your mark.
