Benefitt chooses SIG’s aseptic carton system to pioneer high-protein UHT milk in Thailand

Case study

Benefitt

a new brand developed by Lactasoy Co. Ltd., is an innovator in Thailand’s dairy sector, committed to delivering nutritious, functional, and delicious dairy products that align with today’s healthier lifestyles. The company’s mission is to empower consumers with choices that combine great taste, high nutritional value, and convenience – without compromise. Benefitt is dedicated to bringing high-quality products to the market, supporting the fast-evolving demands of health-conscious consumers across Thailand.

Their challenge

Amidst Thailand’s growing demand for premium, healthy dairy products, Benefitt set out to launch an innovative, high-protein UHT milk. As modern consumers increasingly seek nutritious products free from excessive sugar and preservatives, Benefitt recognized a gap - and an opportunity - in the market for wholesome, truly “better-for-you” milk-based beverages. Before Benefitt’s innovation, high-protein milk in Thailand was predominantly offered in pasteurized formats. These products faced significant limitations: they required a cold chain for storage and transport, resulting in higher logistics costs and restricted access to only certain regions. In addition, the short shelf life of pasteurized milk increased the risk of waste and made wide, efficient distribution nearly impossible – especially to rural or remote areas. These barriers left many consumers without convenient access to healthy, high-protein options.

Overall industry challenges

Producers striving to meet modern nutritional expectations in the dairy segment face persistent challenges:

Avoiding unhealthy products

Growing consumer skepticism towards products laden with sugar, preservatives, or artificial stabilizers. Mounting demand for fresh-tasting, clean-label recipes that retain both nutritional profile and taste.

Distribution constraints

Traditional distribution models, particularly for pasteurized or “fresh” dairy, necessitate energy-intensive cold chains, driving up logistics costs and limiting market reach. Short shelf life restricts placement opportunities and increases risk of costly product waste at retail.

Solution

Benefitt partnered with SIG to launch Thailand’s first high-protein UHT milk in SIG SmallBloc 350 ml aseptic cartons, using an SIG Small 24 Aseptic filling machine for flexible and efficient production. SIG’s aseptic technology enabled Benefitt to offer a product that is not only high in nutritional value but also future-ready for modern distribution. Aseptically packed products in aseptic cartons do not need to be refrigerated and come with an extended shelf life. Ready-to-drink high-protein UHT beverages seamlessly fit into busy, modern lifestyles.

“The UHT solution allows us to deliver high nutritional value without the need for refrigeration. The SIG packaging is easy to carry, easy to drink from and suitable for nationwide distribution.”
