SIG is committed to becoming the best place to work in its industry and beyond. The results of the latest employee survey show that great progress has been made along this path in recent years. SIG scored above the benchmark of comparable companies in all categories.

"We are very satisfied with the results. In recent years, we have been strongly committed to enhancing our corporate culture and leadership at SIG. While we believe that every business needs a good strategy, it is the empowered teams around the globe that make the difference and ultimately bring success. For instance, we are investing significantly in transformational leadership as well as diversity and inclusion trainings to accompany our leaders on their journey of inspiring and empowering our teams. This is now paying off. SIG has made a big leap forward," says Samuel Sigrist, CEO of SIG Combibloc.

The third global SIG employee survey took place in October and November 2020, with over 4,500 colleagues participating. The response rate of 85% was substantially higher than in the previous survey in 2018, when 77% of colleagues took part.

But the results also improved significantly in all 13 survey categories. The company has made yet another big step to achieve one of its strategic targets: to become the best place to work in its industry and beyond.

The indicator used by SIG to track this target is the Manufacturing Norm compiled by the leading global advisory company Willis Towers Watson. It contains data from more than two million employees, from 196 recent studies of manufacturing industry companies across the world. With the 2020 survey, SIG surpassed the weighted average of this comparison group for the first time.

In the survey, employees showed high agreement rates particularly in four categories. 91% said they were very satisfied overall with their work at SIG. 87% attested that the company takes good care of corporate responsibility and wellbeing. Another 87% praised fairness and diversity at SIG. On the subject of sustainable engagement, SIG not only exceeded the manufacturing norm with 87%, but partly overtook some top performers.

"The improvements SIG has achieved within two years are impressive. Sustainable Engagement scores reached the level of a high performance company, as defined by the Willis Towers Watson benchmark," says Maximilian Siessegger, Director of Talent & Rewards at Willis Towers Watson.

Here some detailed results from the categories of sustainable engagement and corporate responsibility:

  • 94% are convinced that customers receive very good products and services from SIG
  • 91% of SIG’s employees are proud to be associated with the company
  • 89% believe strongly in the goals and objectives of the company
  • 89% find fulfilment and meaning in their work
  • 81% rate teamwork and team spirit at SIG positively
  • 81% are pleased with the contribution SIG is making towards community and society

"I love working for SIG – and not only because the company is economically successful. In recent years, positive developments have emerged in many areas. For example, the good crisis management during COVID-19 showed that SIG really cares about its employees and really fulfils its corporate purpose even in very challenging times. In our team, motivation is high, and cooperation is based on trust and mutual support. For me, SIG is the best place to work," says Dawjai Soipetprapa , Manager Environment, Health & Safety in SIG’s plant in Rayong (Thailand).
