We at SIG: Meet Mustafizur Rahman, Field Service Engineer from Dhaka, Bangladesh

Based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman has been a dedicated Field Service Engineer (FSE) with SIG for over 10 years. His work is a true blend of mobility, technical problem-solving, and customer care — and for Mustafizur, it's more than just a job. “It’s been an incredible journey filled with growth, learning, and meaningful experiences. I truly consider SIG my second home,” he says.

As an FSE, Mustafizur spends much of his time traveling to customer sites — often more than four hours a day — to provide hands-on support. “My day really depends on the customer’s needs,” he explains. “I review service requests, prepare my tools, and head to the site to diagnose and resolve technical issues. Some days are smooth; others require immediate, creative solutions.”

One common challenge in the region is outdated machine components. “In Bangladesh, I often see sleeves in use that are 7 to 10 years old,” he shares. These impact machine performance significantly. Mustafizur works closely with customers to recommend replacements and implement long-term solutions that ensure optimal efficiency.

Among his proudest moments? Completing a 4,000-hour preventive maintenance task in just 3 days, rather than the usual 6–7 — a turnaround that earned praise from the customer. “Actually, any appreciation from the customer feels like a reward to me,” he adds with a smile.

Every day presents something new, requiring both calmness and quick thinking. “Being an FSE means balancing work pressure and performance — and sometimes, that balance is tough. But it’s also what makes the job so rewarding.”

SIG has supported Mustafizur throughout his journey with extensive training opportunities across global training centers and hands-on experience in areas such as overhauls, FAT, and project work. “This role is a great opportunity for any engineer to build a solid foundation for their career,” he says.

What truly makes it special for Mustafizur is the team culture. “All my colleagues feel like brothers to me. We have a family-friendly environment that makes work enjoyable,” he shares. “We celebrate cultural festivals together with our families, and that strengthens our bond in ways that go beyond the workplace.”
