We at SIG series meet Tammy Wade, Packaging Associate

Today, we shine a light on Tammy Wade, who’s been with the team for over two decades.
What brought you to SIG, and what has kept you here?

I joined the team in 2003 as a temporary employee looking for a stable opportunity—and found more than just a job. What drew me in was the clean, climate-controlled environment, the way things were organized, and most importantly, the people. That atmosphere of professionalism and camaraderie is what made me stay.

Can you share a proud moment from your time at Chilhowie?

One of my proudest achievements has been earning perfect attendance awards, a reflection of dedication and consistency over the years.

How have you seen the site—and Bag-in-Box technology—evolve?

I’ve seen the site grow and shift through the years, noting how equipment and work schedules have evolved with the times. Change has been a constant—but so has the team's ability to adapt and improve.

What’s one thing most people don’t know about working at CHW?

I think it’s the emphasis on safety and cleanliness that might surprise outsiders. "Safety is number one and that the plant takes great pride in maintaining a clean environment for all employees. "

Who at SIG has inspired or mentored you along the way?

Randy Poe, my former supervisor, was a key mentor. He always offered helpful advice, supported my growth, and encouraged me to be the best version of myself at work.

What does the CHW team spirit mean to you?

In one word: Teamwork. To me, that’s what fuels the CHW plant every day.

If you had one message for future generations working in this space, what would it be?

“Help each other. It makes the work—and the day—go by so much better.” That is my simple message as a reminder that collaboration is at the heart of every successful shift.
