SIG announces APR Design® for Recyclability Recognition for spouted pouch featuring
SIG Terra RecShield BD laminate
SIG announced today that it has been formally recognized by the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) for meeting the highest criteria under the APR Design® Guide for Plastics Recyclability. This recognition applies to SIG Terra RecShield BD spouted pouch, marking another milestone in SIG’s journey to create designed for recycling packaging solutions across multiple formats and applications.

SIG and Oobli have formed a strategic partnership to showcase integrated, reduced-sugar beverage concepts to market. By combining Oobli’s sweet protein technology with SIG’s advanced aseptic filling expertise and diverse packaging options, the collaboration aims to deliver long shelf-life beverages that taste delicious and don’t require refrigeration.

24% sales growth: SIG’s alu-layer-free aseptic cartons gained widespread adoption in 2025
SIG announced a 24% year-over-year sales growth in 2025 for its alu-layer-free aseptic cartons, that reduce the already low CO2 footprint of standard SIG packs even further. This milestone marks another leap forward in the company’s ambition to create a regenerative food packaging system.

SIG Drinksplus products like juice drinks with fruit or vegetable bits can also be processed and filled in aseptic carton packs on standard filling machines from SIG for liquid dairy products and non-carbonated soft drinks (NCSD). The bits can be up to six millimetres in length and width.

In SIG filling machines, each carton pack is individually shaped and sealed at the bottom. The packs – still open at the top – are then guided to the aseptic zone of the filling machine via a mandrel wheel.

Once a carton pack has been filled with the product in SIG’s filling machines, the carton top is ultrasonically sealed above the fill level – still within the SIG filling machine. The carton packs are then fed fully automatically into the downstream process.
