We at SIG: Meet Trixy Surber P&C Administrator

From production planner to People & Culture partner, Trixy Surber has been a pillar of Chilhowie’s (CHW) journey for nearly three decades. Here's her story.
What brought you to SIG, and what has kept you here?

When I first found out about Scholle, the plant had only been open for a month. I was looking for a career where I could grow and eventually retire from. From the beginning, I could tell CHW was different—there was something special about this team. It felt like family, and that hasn’t changed. People are always ready to step in and help each other.

Can you share a proud moment from your time at CHW?

One of my proudest moments came when I transitioned into a role in Supply Chain as a Production Planner. I held that role for nearly 15 years before taking on my current role in People & Culture. Supporting our employees and making sure they feel heard and valued—that’s what I love most about my work today.

How have you seen the site—and Bag-in-Box technology—evolve?

When I started, we had four bag machines and three 8-hour shifts. The plant even shut down for all breaks and lunches. Now, we operate 24/7 with multiple ABM machines, Dipstrip Extrusion, Injection Molding, Combiners, and more. It’s amazing how far we’ve come in 28 years.

What’s one thing most people don’t know about working at CHW?

The family atmosphere. It’s not just a saying—we really are like family here. We share life’s milestones and support each other through everything.

Who at SIG has inspired or mentored you along the way?

Curtis Tuggle, my Supply Chain manager, was instrumental in my development as a planner. Melinda Roberts has also been an incredible mentor in my People & Culture journey—she leads with trust and empowers us to grow.

What does the CHW team spirit mean to you?

It’s about showing up for each other, every day. It’s knowing you’re not alone and that we all want each other to succeed.

If you had one message for future generations working in this space, what would it be?

Work hard, be dependable, and take every opportunity to learn. It will pay off—and you’ll grow more than you thought possible.
